HP 4740s
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings. I have old Laptop 4740s with Windows 10 x64 installed. I need FN Brightness keys to work. Does anybody know how to make it work?

Bios latest version. There is no any word about hotkeys there. Or maybe i should install proper driver? Which one? Help please.

Hi:

HP used to have a W10 hotkey support driver for that model series but for some reason, they removed it.

However, I had saved the file to my Skydrive folder.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if that old W10 driver works on the newer builds of W10.

I have shared the link to this folder with you below.   Download, unzip and run the file labeled sp71790.zip.

This driver works. The only thing - it is not installed automatically (some kind of error). So i unpacked it manually, then went to win10->x64 folder and manually click on install HpqKbFiltr.inf file from context menu. After reboot all FN keys worked. Thanks a lot

You're very welcome, and thanks for letting me know that you have to manually install the drive from the unpacked driver folder.

Maybe that is why HP removed the driver from their FTP site.

The problem is, as you found out, they didn't come out with an updated W10 hotkey driver that worked automatically all the time.

It used to work automatically when the first release of W10 came out.
