I can’t seem to actually reset my Computer to factory settings anymore. And I’m having errors with trying to get my computer software to work as it saying it’s running in the background and it is not even installed. So I can’t install the software again. Is there any ideas on what I can do here?

thanks in advanced:

alice

Hi

Factory Fresh relies on a working HDD and original partitions.

So if the F11 option does not work, run a diagnostic...

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

From 2016 onwards there is a possible recovery option via the cloud...
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 7 & 10)

#############
Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second,
until the Choose an option screen is displayed, and then continue.

This may require another PC. Find and Download your .iso from…
(W8.x and W10 should activate automagically from their embedded licence key.)

So there are possibilities, if in doubt please ask.

Think I baught it in august 2017. So I’ll see if I can figurout the cloud thing. If it doesn’t work and I order the usb recovery media, would that work as well??? It’s pricey, but thinking it may be a good idea.

Hi

The Cloud and the HP USB will be, effectively, the same.  That is to put an OS and drivers on relevant to 3 years ago, and then will spend 3 days doing updates thereafter.

But you are correct in that it will work.

If you can make a USB from here...

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Download the TOOL

https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

and make a USB.  Then when you use it....

If in doubt please ask.
