@tarika0gg, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Fan Noise on HP Victus 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r1000 Series!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Reducing fan noise on your HP Victus 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC while using a Linux-based operating system, such as Manjaro, can be achieved through several methods. Here are some steps you might consider:

Update Your System:

  • Ensure that your Manjaro system is fully updated. This can sometimes provide better hardware compatibility and introduce newer features for managing hardware.

Install Fan Control Software:

  • Look for Linux-compatible fan control software like fancontrol, lm-sensors, or i8kutils which may allow you to adjust fan speeds. You can find these tools in the Manjaro repositories or the Arch User Repository (AUR).
  • Configure lm-sensors first to recognize your laptop's sensors, which is a prerequisite for fancontrol.

Adjust BIOS Settings:

  • Some laptops allow you to adjust fan settings directly in the BIOS. While HP laptops often have limited fan control options, it's worth checking if there's an option for fan management specific to noise reduction.
  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (often by pressing F10 during boot) to see if there are any applicable settings.

Thermal Management:

  • Ensure your laptop is well-ventilated. Regularly clean the vents and consider using a cooling pad which can help with overheating and may reduce fan noise.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
