Product: HP Laptop 14-dq0xxx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
My laptop is turning on its Filter Keys setting without being asked to do so. Or at least that is what it sounds like based on the description online.
This has the effect of reversing the Caps Lock key, which puts small text in all caps and vice versa. It also makes it impossible to type a period because this key appears instead: > A similar problem happens when I try to type a comma, resulting in this key: <
Other keys also similarly are mistyped as the keys that would appear if I hit the Shift key. When I hit the Caps Lock key, it changes the size of the letters that are typed, but the periods, commas and other characters remain in the wrong settings.
The laptop sometimes goes out of this mode on its own after a few minutes, but I usually have to reboot it to get it out of this mode. I am assuming this is Filter Keys based on the description I saw online.
I saw today that you can hit both Shift keys to turn off this mode. I haven't had to do that yet.
I tried going into the Control Panel and adjusting the Filter Keys setting, but it is already turned off. And the box for the keyboard shortcut to turn it on is unchecked.
Thanks in advance for your help with this. It is really inconvenient having to turn the laptop off so often.
