Hi @Mehenuf,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the fingerprint sensor for your HP Spectre x360 13.5-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC is not showing up in Device Manager after a fresh Windows installation, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue.
Check for BIOS Updates
- Make sure your BIOS is up to date. Go to the HP Support website, find your specific model, and download/install the latest BIOS update if one is available.
Enable Biometric Devices in BIOS
- Reboot your laptop and enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during startup).
- Look for options related to Security or Fingerprint Sensor, and make sure biometrics are enabled.
- Save and exit the BIOS.
Update Chipset and Fingerprint Drivers
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop’s model number.
- Download and install the latest Chipset drivers and the Synaptics or Goodix fingerprint driver for your laptop.
- Install both and restart your laptop.
Check Windows Biometric Settings
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
- Ensure that Windows Hello options are available for fingerprint setup.
- If not, click Get Started under Fingerprint and see if it allows you to register a fingerprint.
Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Hardware and Devices, and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix the issue.
Scan for Hardware Changes in Device Manager
- Open Device Manager.
- Click on Action in the top menu and select Scan for hardware changes.
- If the fingerprint sensor is still missing, try checking under Other Devices or Unknown Devices to see if it's being detected improperly.

Reinstall Windows Hello Components
- Open Device Manager and expand Biometric Devices (if it appears).
- If the fingerprint sensor is listed, right-click and choose Uninstall device. Then, restart your computer.
- Windows should reinstall the necessary drivers on restart. If it doesn’t, use Windows Update to download any missing drivers.
Windows Update
- Ensure that Windows is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes missing drivers are installed via Windows Update.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

None of these were helpful. Fingerprint scanner is already enabled in the BIOS and the BIOS is updated too. But can't find Update and Security option in my settings. can you give me accurate way how can I trouble in Windows 11 Home?
