Reminder to those reading:
The driver requires that there is an actual fingerprint sensor installed in the hardware.
Without the fingerprint reader in the hardware, the driver is useless.
Check that your computer includes the hardware -
If the hardware exists, then look for a driver for the reader.
Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager
Tab View
Check Show hidden devices
Select Devices by Type
Expand Category (for example Biometric Devices)
Right-Click on the Driver > Select / open Properties
Tab Driver
Compare Driver version to the driver listed in system's support page Category Software and Drivers
Reminder:
No Biometrics > Fingerprint section in Device Manager = No working fingerprint sensor in the machine.
Example - Device Manager – Biometric Devices
Next,
Check for the fingerprint reader driver in your system's Software & Drivers category
Open
Enter the device type and model name of your HP product
Next,
Open Category Software & Drivers
Open Sub-category Driver-Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
Check for the Fingerprint Driver in the list
