Hi @mlink512a,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
HP does not provide official fingerprint sensor drivers for Linux for any of its consumer or business notebook models. HP’s fingerprint sensor support is made available through Windows Hello drivers on Windows, and those drivers are not offered for Linux by HP.
If you would like to use the fingerprint sensor under Linux, support for that functionality would need to come from the Linux community or the fingerprint sensor vendor’s open-source projects (such as fprint/LibFprint). You may wish to reach out to those communities or check their driver compatibility lists:
fprint/LibFprint open-source project (community maintained) — https://fprint.freedesktop.org
Linux distribution hardware support forums (e.g., Ubuntu, Fedora)
The kernel’s device driver maintainers for the specific fingerprint sensor hardware
These sources are the best path for Linux driver availability, as HP does not develop or distribute fingerprint sensor drivers for Linux platforms.
I hope this helps.
