I updated my laptop last night, it was new in January and this was the first time it prompted me to update. Today, every couple of minutes or so a pop up keeps appearing with the title "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\installutil.exe". It only stays on the screen for a few seconds and then dissapears again but it is getting very annoying!
Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Hi @BekkiLank,
Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand, you're getting pop up error message on your PC.
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
When was the last time it was working fine?
Were there any hardware/software changes made?
Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:
Perform sfc /scannow:
1. Use Windows shortcut keys Win + X to open the quick menu and then select Command Prompt (Admin).
2. At the command prompt, type the following command sfc /scannow
3. Press ENTER
4. The sfc /scannow command will scan all protected system files, and replace corrupted files. Note Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.
Repair or reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework
- On your keyboard, press Windows+R to open the Run window.
- Type in Control Panel and click OK.
- Click Uninstall a Program and click Turn Windows features on or off.
- Verify that .Net Framework 4.5 is enabled.
- If the box for .NET Framework 4.5 is not enabled (not filled in), enable it by clicking the box. Click OK to close the Windows Feature window and reboot the computer.
- If .Net Framework 4.5 is already enabled, repair .Net Framework by clearing the box and rebooting the computer. After the reboot, re-enable .Net Framework and reboot the computer again.
- Verify that .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 is enabled.
- If the box for .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 is not enabled (not filled in), enable the it by clicking the box. Click OKto close the Windows Feature window and reboot the computer.
- If .Net Framework 3.5 SP 1 is already enabled, repair .Net framework by clearing the box and rebooting the computer. After the reboot, re-enable .Net framework and reboot the computer again.
If the issue persists, I would suggest you try Microsoft Push-Button Reset (Windows 10).
Note: Back up your personal data before performing this steps.
Keep me posted,
Have a great day 🙂
Cheers!
