Hi @TULEDI,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding freezing issues on the HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your operating system is up-to-date. Windows updates often include bug fixes that can resolve system instability.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
Update Device Drivers: Make sure all drivers, especially those for the graphics card and chipset, are up-to-date. You can use HP Support Assistant to find and install updates.
- Launch HP Support Assistant from the Start menu or the taskbar.
- Navigate to check for updates and apply any available updates related to drivers.
Perform Disk Cleanup: Sometimes, unnecessary files can cause the system to lag.
- Search for Disk Cleanup in the taskbar search box, select the drive to clean up, and remove temporary files that are not needed.
Check for Malware: Use Windows Defender or another reputable antivirus program to scan for malware or viruses that may be impacting system performance.
Adjust Power Settings: Set your power options to high performance to ensure the system isn't throttling performance.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose High Performance.
Disable Startup Programs: Too many background applications starting with Windows can lead to system freezes.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, navigate to the Startup tab, and disable non-essential programs.
Run System File Checker: Use the System File Checker to detect and repair corrupted system files.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow, then press Enter.
Check Memory and Storage Health: Make sure there are no issues with your memory and storage by using built-in diagnostics.
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to enter the Startup Menu, then select the Diagnostic option to run tests.
Check for Overheating: Ensure your laptop is not overheating, as this can cause freezing. Clean out any dust from vents and make sure it's placed on a hard, flat surface.
I hope this helps.
