Hi @DebbiIL,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP Pavilion laptops often combine the function keys (F1–F12) with other keys. If your laptop doesn’t have a dedicated row of function keys, they might be accessible by using a modifier key, usually the Fn key.

Here’s how you can use the function keys like F4.

Locate the Fn key:
Look for a key labeled Fn (Function) on your keyboard, usually located near the bottom-left corner.

Press Fn + the relevant key:
Look for a key with a secondary label that matches F4 (or the function key you need). For example, the F4 function might share a key with something like a display or brightness control. Hold down Fn and press that key.

Check for Function Lock:
Some HP Pavilion laptops have a Function Lock (Fn Lock) feature, which reverses how the function keys work:

  • If the function keys are performing actions like volume control or brightness, press Fn + Esc or look for a key with a lock icon to toggle Fn Lock.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
