I have an HP Pavilion 15-p043cl with the same problem. The power/charge light blinks white three times when you press it. The laptop never actually powers up. I've tried with and without the battery and numerous other power adapters. It even blinks while the battery is removed, which is strange because the I've opened up the case and measured 19.5 volts on the motherboard, which is why the light even flashes in the first place. The customer said the computer felt really warm, and now it's not working and this is happening.

Well, the stupidest thing ever. The HP Pavilion 15-p043cl refused to use ANY other power adapter other than the one that was made for this model. I used multiple other adapters that had the correct voltage and amperage, but none worked. They only made the light blink three times. I got another similar Pavilion 15 model in the shop. Using that power adapter it actually powered up my Pavilion 15 model.
W.T.F.? Why does this model BLOCK other power adapters from powering it up!?
It also turns out that I had a bad stick of RAM. While it was in one slot the power light and CAPS light would blink. In the other slot the laptop would power on but then nothing else. And I hope no one else has to access the HDD or RAM in my model. You have to gut the laptop to get at the HDD. And you have to take out the motherboard to access the RAM.

Hello @MrTom,
Its normally the Power input jack is bad or the Charger of the laptop.
The LED flashing three times just means that it knows that there is a battery there, but it doesn't have enough power to run the laptop.
Your battery has died because your power cord has not been supplying power to your PC. You would not be aware at this point that the laptop was running from the battery. The battery has just run out of charge.
The best thing would be to do is see if anyone has a battery like yours and try it with the new battery fully charged.
You might want to take a look at this document: Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge.
It suggests troubleshooting steps to determine if the problem is the battery, the power supply, or the system board.
You might find the answer to your battery/power issue as you work through the steps in that HP support article.
