Hi all.
My two HP laptops have Windows 10 factory installed. I frequently receive messages from Microsoft inviting me to switch to Windows 11 for free. Of course, the free offer is pretty attractive, yet I wonder if the switch is advisable for laptops that were devised to work with Windows 10.
My two laptops are these:
HP Laptop PC 17-by4000 (18B37AV)
HP ENVY - 17t-ce100 CTO
Any comments and thoughts will be more than welcome. Many thanks. Regards to all. Martin

Hi, Martin:
Notebooks with Intel 8th gen core processors or newer are supported to run W11 by Microsoft.
HP supports the 17-by4000 notebook with W11 drivers at the link below:
HP Laptop PC 17-by4000 (18B37AV) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
HP does not support the 17t-ce100 CTO with W11 drivers but that doesn't necessarily mean the PC won't work on W11.
HP ENVY - 17t-ce100 CTO Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
You may be able to use the W10 drivers from the support page if a driver installation is required after the upgrade to W11.
If it were me, I would upgrade both notebooks to W11 and if things don't work right, you have 10 days to easily go back to W10 as long as you don't delete the upgrade files or Windows.old folder.
Go back to the previous version of Windows - Microsoft Support
After 10 days, those files will be automatically deleted.
In conclusion, I see upgrading to W11 as a fairly low risk adventure since you can go back to W10.
The advantage is continued security and operating system update support for W11 and that benefit ends in less than a month on W10 unless you pay $30 USD for an additional 1 year of W10 support.
