Hi:

Unfortunately, that model series has been retired since it is more than 10 years old, and there are no manuals or driver support for the notebook anymore from HP.

I was able to find this user manual on the internet which may be of some help to you...

ManualsLib - Makes it easy to find manuals online!

I was also able to find the maintenance and service guide still floating around out in cyberspace.

HP G71 Service Manual.pdf (potterpcrepair.com)

If you want to try upgrading that model to W10, here's a way to do it for free:

Make a bootable W10 USB installation drive with the media creation tool.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After the media has been created, do not boot from the media.

Open the flash drive in Windows explorer and double-click on the setup application you see in the list of files to begin the upgrade process.

You can go back to W7 within 10 days if things don't work right as long as you don't delete any of the upgrade files or the Windows.old folder.

I need help I'm trying connect thru the wifi I don't know if I have the missing drivers, the wifi bars has an red X and I'm looking at the windows device manager for driver networks, "Intel (R) WiFi Link 1000BGN & Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)....

Hi:

If you see those devices in the device manager and they report 'working properly,' then it isn't a driver problem.

If you look at chapter 2, page 13 of the service manual I gave you last night, it shows that there is a wireless button you press to enable/disable the Wi-Fi.

It is item 3 in the illustration.

I try that already blue light everything is because I'm using a different router because I'm using a TP LINK wifi 6 AX1800 and I'm using a Smart connect, should I switch it and use it on 2.4 Ghz....???

HP Recommended

Yes, you have to set your router to broadcast on both bands, because your notebook's wifi adapter is a single band (2.4 GHz only) wifi adapter.

So everything does work, except for the Wi-Fi card, I'm using an old wifi mini adapter USB, half thru the Windows updates, I'll just use the laptop for simple stuff for now music and videos, any suggestions recommend or recommendations where I can buy replacement battery....???.

HP Recommended

Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions for where to buy a battery, but the service manual should have the part number you need.

You'll have to buy an aftermarket battery.
