HP ENVY 14-1100 Notebook PC series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am a senior with limited technical ability. I am trying to display my photos on my TV screen.

HP 1110 NR laptop, 65 bit system, Windows 10

Product number: 00326-10000-00000-AA166

I have tried HDMI to HDMI (on the side of the TV

I am now trying HDMI to VGA adapter (on the back of the TV)

My laptop was purchased 3/25/11.  Is it too old? It does have an HDMI outlet.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

We tried HDMI to HDMI and it didn't work. A local business techie  spent several hours doing a reset and trying several things, including the VGA connection. When we looked at the original Quick Set Up Guide for the Sony TV it showed a PC connected to the back of theTV in two different diagrams and in the original instruction book it said to use the PC with video 9  and a VGA connection on the middle back of the TV. I called chat after that and they took control and solved my problem. I'm not sure what the fix was but it is working now using Video 9 and the VGA connector in the middle of the back of the TV.

I will try again to use the HDMI to HDMI - maybe after the holidays.

Thanks to all who too the time to help - it's amazing how quickly people came to my rescue. THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!!

HDMI to HDMI is your best bet. Make sure you have the TV set to get input from the HDMI port you have the laptop connected to. I have a similar Sony TV and you have to click through quite a few "inputs" to get the right one. On mine the HDMI port on the left side that is easily accessible is "Video 3". The "input" selector is one of the buttons on the right side.

Connect the HDMI to HDMI to the laptop before you power up. Get the TV set to have input from the HDMI port. Obviously you have a blank screen. Now power up the laptop. When you get to the Windows desktop hit the Windows key in the lower left of the keyboard and p at the same time. It will give you a menu to toggle laptop screen, external or laptop and external.

This is the simplest way to display to an external screen.
