HP Notebook - 15-ac650tu

Hi Anybody here, can you just know how to hard flash the BIOS or fresh flash the BIOS. Because my BIOS got corrupted after the BIOS update using USB gone wrong. I tried to recover it using the USB as adviced by HP support team but its not helpful. The problem with my corrupted BIOS is that if I use Linux based OS, I cannot boot into linux and I can boot into linux if I use nomodeset in the boot utility and it turns off my graphics card driver and my CPU will work at full potential and overheat and turn off because of the CPU temparature is high.

Other option is that I can boot into windows and it works much better than Linux but problem is when I use heavy graphics applications the CPU overheats and laptop turns off instantly. This happens when I try Google maps in any browser and use video converter applications, video editing softwares and image editor softwares. When I use video editing and image editing softwares it doesn't use graphics card. These apps doesn't identify my integrated graphics card. But the windows can identify my graphics card. These apps use CPU only. Thats the problem.

Do we have to use both Windows Key+B and Windows Key+V or do we have to use either of them whichever boots to BIOS recovery.

created recovery usb (16GB USB 2.0 pendrive) as shown in the video.

I tried Windows key+B

  • Unplugged charger and battery.
  • Hold power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plugged charger.
  • Windows key+B and power on button. Black screen with caps lock blinking twice in every few seconds. Switched off.
  • Plugged in recovery USB at 2.0 port and windows key+B and power button. But still black screen. Caps lock blinking twice in every few seconds and no recovery screen is showing as in the video.

Hello @kishoreuk2008

Repeat the entire process including all combinations in step (6).

  • Is 16GB pendrive too much? Do I have to try another pendrive of less size?
  • When I try Windows+V and power button, the laptop boots to windows. Thats why I'm asking whether I have to use the Windows+V key combination.
  • Also I have a USB 3.0 port on my laptop. Is it okay if I put recovery pendrive in USB 3.0 port?

Hello @kishoreuk2008

Try different usb flash drives (type 2.0 and 3.0) and usb ports. [win]+v is not working, so focus on [win]+b

I tried all the steps 10 times. I bought new 4GB pendrive tried with it too. And tried all the USB ports. Nothing happened. The screen is just blank and fan is on full speed.

The software and driver page of my laptop still at BIOS version F.29 but my HP support assistant recommended me BIOS version upto F.32. Why?
