Pavilion 15t

Hey! My customized laptop is being sent to me from China! I was unaware that’s where it’d come from. How safe and sterilized would it be? I’m worried not to even open it with this Coronavirus going on.

@Ssmall86

I understand your concern as I am one of the "high-risk" community myself.

In modern plants, the laptops are assembled entirely by robots -- so no one touches any of it in the process.

The packaging is also often done with robots, but there's no way anyone can guarantee that no one has touched the laptop or any of the stuff in the box.

It's very hard to buy any computer products these days that are NOT made in China!  So, what I would recommend to be safe is that you wear a mask and gloves while opening the box and handling any of the components.  Then, before you use the laptop, wipe it down with sanitary wipes -- and let it dry for several hours.  Try NOT to get it wet, just wipe it down.

Once you do that, you should then be OK opening and using it.

But, if you want guarantees against infection -- these days, no one can provide you those.
