HP 240 G6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi to everyone! I went to install Windows 7 on my HP 240 G6 and now many drivers are missing, especially USB ones. I understand the notebook comes with two 3.1 slots and a 2.0 one, but none of them are working. I've read a lot of posts and tried many packs with no luck.

I add the hardware ID of the USB item in the list, as I don't know if any other can be useful. (Sorry, the OS is in spanish).

Hardware ID:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_31A8&SUBSYS_84D6103C&REV_03
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_31A8&SUBSYS_84D6103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_31A8&CC_0C0330
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_31A8&CC_0C03

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

Unfortunately no one will be able to help you, because Intel did not develop any W7 drivers for the USB 3.1 ports.

I can probably give you the other drivers you need, but I don't see the point since the graphics and USB won't work.

Hi! Thanks for the quick reply.

1) So the USB ports of this model are indeed 3.1? I'd like to be sure that my info is not mistaken before discarding the W7 instalation.

2) If that's the case, everything should work as intended if I go back to W10?

Thanks again!

You're very welcome.

Yes, W10 will work just fine.

Your notebook definitely has USB 3.1 controllers, and not USB 3.0

I would have liked to have helped you, but on this model it just isn't possible to have everything work on W7 (unless you know of a way to write or modify existing drivers for those devices where none exist).  And unfortunately, I don't.

I even checked the latest Intel USB 3 driver just to see if they included the hardware ID you posted for your USB 3.1 controller for driver support, and the answer is no.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the supported hardware IDs for the USB 3 driver...

Thanks for your time and help.

I'll go with W10 again then.

Anytime.
