Hello HP Community,

 

I recently purchase a Freedos HP 240 G8 Laptop and installed Windows 10 Pro on it using a USB prepared from windows 10 downloaded from the Microsoft site. I noticed when I was doing the install that my touchpad was not working but if I connected an external mouse, it worked. I just thought I will update drives when I am done and it should be fine.

 

I finished and tried all sorts, looked around the internet for solutions to get it working but it just did not work. I contacted HP support and after 1 hour of updates and troubleshooting, the support lady said it was probably a hardware issue and I was issued an authorization letter to get a replacement.

 

I received the replacement laptop (same model) yesterday (18th Feb 2022) and I was just trying to instal windows again and the same thing seems to be happening. The touchpad does not seem to work but an external mouse works. It looks like this particular model is notorious for this touchpad issue.

 

Please who can help me solve this problem?

 

I am almost at a point where I will not consider purchasing HP laptops again if all I get is lots of time-wasting and grief.

 

Please help.
