Hi @joe_tric,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the "system error invalid in startup 00A" message after a system board replacement on your HP 360 13, you need to use the HP DMI tools to reprogram the system information, including the serial number. The specific version of the HP DMI tool you'll need can depend on the exact model and BIOS version of your HP 360 13.

HP provides the DMI tools through their support channels, typically under the name "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics" or "HP BIOS Configuration Utility." Here are the general steps to obtain and use the DMI tools.

Download the HP DMI Tool:

  • Visit the HP Support website.
  • Enter your product name (HP 360 13) or product number.
  • Navigate to the "Software and Drivers" section.
  • Look for tools or utilities related to BIOS or system management. The tools you're looking for might be named "HP BIOS Configuration Utility," "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics," or something similar.

Prepare a USB Drive:

  • Format a USB drive with the FAT32 file system.
  • Copy the downloaded DMI tool to the USB drive.

Boot into the Tool:

  • Insert the USB drive into your HP 360 13.
  • Power on the laptop and press F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate to the boot options and set the USB drive as the primary boot device.
  • Save the settings and exit the BIOS. The laptop should boot from the USB drive.

Run the DMI Tool:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the DMI tool.
  • You may need to enter specific commands to update the system board information. Commonly, these tools will have options for updating the serial number, SKU number, model number, and other pertinent system information.

Update the Serial Number:

  • Use the tool's interface to input the correct serial number and other necessary information.
  • Save the changes and exit the tool.

Reboot the System:

  • Remove the USB drive and reboot the laptop.
  • Check if the "system error invalid in startup 00A" message is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
