HP ENVY - 17-u275cl (2EW64UA#ABA)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

Just purchased this laptop and updated and installed all drivers except for the HP 3D DriveGuard SP85435 which is not installing. It goes through the initial installation process, a shell window opens and closes real quick without giving me the time to read what it says and then that's it. No errors and no 3D DriveGuard. It's not in my Device Manager or in the task bar at the bottom left.

Any ideas?

Notebook: HP ENVY - 17-u275cl (2EW64UA#ABA)

OS:  Windows 10 Version 1803

Problem:  SP85435

Download Hp 3D DriveGuard from: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers, you can save it to the desktop and anywhere else.

You can download winrar or 7-zip from:

http://www.7-zip.org/

https://www.winrar.es/descargas

After downloading any of the programs, go to the path where the downloaded file is, right click on the web site ***** .exe (if you have something gained next to it) take it out in /, (if you have 7- zip) click with the right button on the *****. exe, select 7-Zip, select the extracted files and click OK.

Press the Windows (+) R keys

In the new window type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
In the Device Manager, expand System Devices, right-click on the Hp Mobile Data Protection Sensor entry and select Update Driver Software.

Select Find driver software on the computer, then choose Choose from a list of device drivers on the computer.

In the new window click on Use disk and, at the moment, look for the folder sp *****. Exe extracted in the route where it is.

Look in the InstallFiles subfolder, open the Win10 folder, left click on the accelerometer to display, and then click Open.

Click OK and then click Next and wait for the driver to install.

When finished, click Close, and then click Yes to restart the laptop.

Hi, @Chuck_Mo

There is no such device as the 3D driveguard.

That is just the software description.

The actual device the software installs is called the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor.

If the driver installed the device, you will find it listed in alphabetical order in the System Devices device manager category.

The updated software no longer puts an icon on the right side of the Windows taskbar.

Thank you for the heads up regarding the lack of icon.

Thank you, I managed to get it to work following your instructions but I must say, HP has really screwed up with this one. Regular non-technical users would never be able to find the right .inf file for the installation.
