Hi,
I have a HP Compaq 8510p model with HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor drivers version 4.2.9.1 (sp64144.exe) installed on Windows 10 x64 Pro v1607.
The sensor hardware ID is ACPI\HPQ0004 / ACPI\VEN_HPQ&DEV_0004.
Two week ago Windows was upgraded to v1709 and the 3D DriveGuard software had been disabled.
I tried different versions of 3D DriveGuard software without success:
sp71811.exe, sp75979.exe, sp77869.exe, sp78033.exe, sp81142.exe, sp82755.exe, sp83846.exe
Unfortunately all of these drivers are for ACPI\HPQ0006 or newer hardware.
Finally Windows 10 has been rolled back to v1607 on my HP Compaq 8510p till an updated version of the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor driver on ACPI\HPQ0004 device will be available for this system. Will be available at all?
Can I get support on this topic? Is there anyone who has successfully cope with this issue or found a suitable driver?
Thank you for your support in advance.
Regards,
BL9

Hi:
You need this driver for the 3D driveguard hardware version your notebook has...
This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.

Hi,
thank you very much for your answer.
This driver version (sp64144.exe) already runs on my Windows 10 v1607, but unfortunately it is not supported, so it is automatically disabled in Windows 10 v1709.
I am inquiring, are there any plans to develop the driver?
Thanks in advance.

You're very welcome.
While I don't work for or represent HP, I can almost assure you that HP will not be releasing an updated driver for that old version of the 3 D driveguard hardware.
This is what I did just to get the device to install and not have any errors. I have 3 old HP business notebooks (nc6400, 6910p, 6930p) with the same 3D driveguard version, all running the W10 FCE...
First, uninstall the 3D driveguard software in the control panel>uninstall programs section and restart the PC.
Download and save, but do not run sp64144.
Download and install this free file utility. The 2nd file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.
After you install 7-zip, right click on the driver file you saved.
Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp64144).
Once that is done, go to the device manager, click on the Unknown device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on update driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-zip created.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.
Now you have no ! marks in the device manager, but the device will have no software to trigger it.
But, I doubt it makes much difference. Dropping a notebook isn't a good thing, and more than the hard drive will probably be ruined.

Again thank you and Happy New Year!
Your described solution can be a workaround. That is exactly what I saw after the upgrade: device without question mark, but its service could not be switched to run state (as you pointed too). Reinstalling the driver unfortunately does not change anything 😞
Instead of using a hard drive, SSD can be a good alternative while HP is developing a new driver for this device (if it develops at all). Till that time, do not drop your notebook 🙂

Hi All,
just a short information.
Something has been modified in Windows 10 v1703 (possibly a compatibility patch?), because the “HP 3D DriveGuard sp61444.exe edition” is now working on my HP Compaq 8510p. I am talking about the configuration program available in Control Panel, previously it was blocked by Windows v1703 and v1709.
I have not tested in Windows 10 v1709 yet.
Have a nice day!
