SP 83846 is the winner! Thanks. This laptop has been a pretty good one going from win 8, 8.5 then 10 plus 2 CRATER updates.

@StuartTunstall

We went through several versions on this thread. Are you using the last one released by HP?

Btw-If 3D drivguard is running in services then yes, it is working.

That is the version I installed from here

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c05841987

If I go to program files and double click on the accelerometer.exe file I still get the error, but as I say I checked and it appeared the service was running, just the taskbar icons for both Coolsense and 3D Guard that were not working..

If I open Coolsense from control panel it put the icon on the taskbar and said "on" but this disappears again after a reboot..

Do you know what version accelerometer driver it should be in that patch? mine is 6.2 or 6.02 I think dated Spetember.

I don't have 3D Driveguard installed because I have an SSD. But several others are reporting  in Services under Task Manager that version 6.0.22.1 of the driver is running, and under APPS it says version 6.0.45.1 of the software.

Hi

That looks to be what I am running, the application and the driver...

As you can see the services are both running in these images, and for some reason Coolsense ahas started to work now showing the "snowflake"symbol on the taskbar... very odd, I still don'e see the 3D Guard symbol though.. How can you tell if the accelerometer is working? I presume if the driveguard and coolsense are running it must be>

Yes, you seem to be good now. From my perspective-I think it was actually the software and not the driver that Win 10 objected too. The driver version is same while software version changed. It may have even had something to do with the icon  in tray. All merely speculation on my part from reading several dozen threads on this issue and reporting  the errors to HP.

I did read a lot of issues, but as you say it all seems to be running on my Notebook now, just missing the icon..

If I do go to program files and click on the "HP Accelerometer system tray" which I belive is the icon it states not compatible although it is the latesy "45" version

In this later version HP may have set a command to not place icon in Sys Tray. I really got the feeling from a lot of posts that is what Win 10 objected to. There may even be another update later that changes all of it again. MS updates Win 10 constantly and it seems to be a race to keep up with and fix what they break with each update.

I know what you mean, maybe it is the icon issue and it has been "disabled" ...

I do not agree, and never have that although I love Windows 10 I would still like the option to say yes or no to updates being installed, and choose which one's I want installed, after all these are OUR cmputers NOT Microsofts so they should not decide if/when we update... like the old days... I agree it does make things more secure but if you have an older computer can cause issues...

I know the "Pro" version allows you to "defer" but not stop updates...

Thanks for the replies 🙂
