Hello,

The HP App on my Zbook Ultra G1a will not work. Every time I launch it, it just gets stuck on a white screen. I have reset it and reinstalled it numerous times in Windows settings. The HP app seems to consume resources according to the task manager, and I have tried terminating and restarting it multiple times, with no luck. I am on the latest drivers and BIOS firmware from HP as of posting, verified by HP Support Assist and HP Image Assistant. I want to set some battery settings in the HP app, but I am unable to do so because the HP app is unusable. I have attached an image of what my HP app looks like. I am on Windows 11 Pro 25H2, latest version. I would appreciate any help I can get.

The HP Smart application does not always tolerate a "Dark" or "High Contrast" Display theme.

Perhaps the HP App is also sensitive to the same issue.

If you are running either of these, consider switching the display to a "Light" or regular contrast setting to test.

>>> How to Use >>>    HP printer setup (HP App)

>>> Terms of Use >>>  HP Smart – formally HP Connected – Services Terms of Use

-- NOTES - Dark and Gloomy --

  • If you are running High Contrast or “Dark Mode” and the app will not open at all, try switching to None (for contrast) or “Light” for mode.
  • After the application opens, set up the printer –
  • Later, if you wish to do so, try setting the mode back to your preferred setting.

-- For those reading --

Like HP Smart, the HP App (Windows) can be Reset.

The App Reset removes the user account information from the application.

The Reset can be useful to remove "crumbs" and clear odd issues when a simple Restart of the computer or (re)installation of the application does not work by itself.

After the Reset,

It is recommended that you restart the computer and sign in.

Next, Open HP Smart / HP App and add your printer(s).

I did that, light mode and no contrast theme, but still I have the same issue. Is there any other way to set these battery settings that are stuck in the HP App? Thanks for your help.Screenshot 2026-05-26 121944.png

1)  HP App

2)  Find the Battery settings in the BIOS

======================

1)  HP App - Reset / Reinstall

If you want to pound on the HP App some more...

If not done,

Try / Consider ...

  • Assign your workstation network connection as a manual / static IP address - Make sure the updates are made on both workstation and router.
  • Use Ethernet if you have it to add stability.
  • Make sure your Windows Updates are not tangled, pending, in need of installing.
  • Reset the HP App → Uninstall the HP App → Restart the computer and router.
  • Sign into your workstation → Install the HP App

2)  Workstation - BIOS

-- What else? --

I've never adjusted the Battery settings using the HPSA or using the HP App.

The example I have shows the Battery Manager disabled -- (as I want it).

The message reminds the user to check the BIOS for the battery settings.

For example,

From Category Setup & User Guides

Find and open

Section Power Management Options Menu
Pages 58-59

Not what you seek?
Search the document for "battery".
