HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV)

HP Assistant software (which I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice), when I'm logged in, the dashboard shows a circle spinning meaning it is trying to download something. It has been doing this for at least three hours or more without result? Is there a problem with the software I have downloaded? (sp 17123)

Hi @MAmato,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue with the HP support assistant software that is installed on your laptop. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the spinning circle problem:

Check Your Internet Connection: Make sure your internet connection is stable and working. Sometimes a slow or intermittent connection can cause downloads to hang.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software to see if it’s blocking the download.

Clear Cache: Clear any cache associated with the HP Assistant software. You might need to look for its data files in your system’s settings and remove them.

Run as Administrator: Right-click on the HP Assistant shortcut and select "Run as administrator." This can help if there are permission issues.

Install Updates for windows: go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.

Reinstall Application Again: If the above steps don't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the application again by clicking on the link https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/ish_2025988-1592331-16

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
