Hi @PattyJeanK

Welcome to HP Forums!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

I understand you have some issues with your Chromebook and the keyboard is not working.

Since you're having problems with your keyboard, try these steps:

  • Turn off the Chromebook, then back on.
  • Try using the keys while you browse as a guest. If the keys work, delete the account that's having the problem on your Chromebook, then add it again.
  • If you’re signed in to the Chromebook, sign out.
  • At the bottom, click Browse as Guest. Check if the keyboard works. If yes, it could be an issue with your user account.
  • To fix this issue, reset the Chromebook.

Power Wash/ Reset:

  1. Sign in to your Chromebook.
  2. At the bottom right, select the time.
  3. Select Settings.Settings
  4. At the bottom, select Advanced.
  5. In the "Powerwash" section, select Powerwash and then Restart.
  6. In the box that appears, select Powerwash and then Continue.

Let me know if this helps.

I tried all that and they keyboard doesn't work as a guest. I powerwashed and they keyboard still didn't work. I bought it from Best Buy and their Geek Squad guy did those things too and confirmed the keyboard wasn't working. They are ordering a replacement device. Which is better than paying HP $25 to return it, considering it never worked out of the box . I am looking forward to getting this because it feels like it will be a great unit.

I was disappointed that the agent in the online help chat told me first to do a ctrl-alt-shift-r which want possible since the keyboard wasn't working!!
