Pavilion 14"
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I look at the "reliabilty history" section of "maintenance" on my HP laptop, it shows "HP CommRecovery stopped working" quite a few times. My questions are: What is HP CommRecovery and how do I fix this problem?

Kind regards

@DonaldO63,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

The HP Comm Recovery is a background service which monitors the status of Ethernet, WiFi and Broadband devices. It will try to recover the device if an error is detected.

I recommend you end the HPcommrecovery process in task manager and check if it helps. HPCommRecovery.exe is not essential for the Windows OS and causes relatively few problems.

Some malware camouflages itself as HPCommRecovery.exe, particularly when located in the C:\Windows or <C:\Windows\System32 folder>. Therefore, you should check the HPCommRecovery.exe process on your PC to see if it is a threat. I recommend you run a full virus scan on your computer to make sure it is virus free.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Cheers!
