HP ENVY Notebook 13-ab0XX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an ENVY a couple of weeks ago.  I like the appearance. But I heard there are overheating issues with this model. I like some expert opinion on the extended warranty.   Is it worth purchasing the extended warranty?

I have three HP laptops and two desk tops (Pavilion) at home.  The SPECTTRE 360 just died at age of 21 months.  I am sending it in for repair next week. I was told the motherboard will be replaced and the cost is over half of the original cost.

I wonder if I should take the chance for my ENVY.

Hi @XYA6688,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the post regarding warranty issues with the notebook. I will be delighted to assist you here.

As you are a valued HP customer, I would personally suggest it would be a good idea to have an extended warranty for your PC,

Please be informed that there are 2 kinds of warranties. The first warranty is a store warranty which is offered by the Store that you purchased it from and it is not related to HP in any way. The stores sell the warranty for customers and take care of the customer’s computer. HP has nothing to do with it.

Then there is an HP warranty that can be extended anytime during the 1 year HP manufacturer’s warranty based on the customer’s requirements. It can usually be done anytime before the 1-year factory warranty ends.

You could always extend the warranty by contacting HP phone support by performing these steps:

  • Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
  • Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
  • Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
  • Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.
  • They will be happy to assist you immediately

Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind and also balance the cost and benefits. I had some issues with one of the two Pavilions desktops. So far so good with the new ENVY. I owned a Pavilion zt3000 laptop which was very reliable. I also have an HP media smart laptop, which is also reliable. I guess the our SPECTRE Is an outlier.
