Hi all!
I'm facing a problem with my HP EliteBook 840 G3.
After a Windows 10 update done in November 2022 the laptop started to reproduce the following problems:
- Windows spinning dots at boot really slow (the ones showed during PC boot, under the Windows logo). They show up even when booting Windows installation (except Windows 8.1);
- Scratchy audio from speakers (a system pop-up shows up with the following message: "A Conexant audio device could not be found. The application will now exit.");
- Laggy mouse pointer (using touchpad or an external mouse);
- CPU load at 100% for most of the uptime.
What I tried to do:
- Install the drivers from the web page (even the older ones) -> Nothing changed.
- Install different versions of windows (7, 10, 11), with clean installation -> Problem still here.
- Install Windows 8.1 -> Works but some drivers are missing (audio drivers) and I need them. Also Win8 is going to be out of support like Win7.
- Install a linux distro ->Works perfectly.
I can imagine it's all about drivers, because if they were hardware issues it wouldn't have worked under Win8.1 and Linux.
Can someone please help me? Did anyone face the same problems?
EDIT: when the notebook goes to sleep, i can't wake it up from the black screen anymore. To be able to use it again I have to do a forced restart
