I upgraded my HP Envy 17 - 1181NR  with a I thought I bought a Intel Core i7 840QM SLBMP   as that is what it says but my bios says  i7 Q840 1.87GHz is that correct instead of saying i7-8400QM?

Thank you

Yes, there is only one i7-840QM processor, and I guess that is how the BIOS in your notebook must identify it.

You're very welcome, Todd.

Yes, that is pretty odd, but nothing to be concerned about.

Cheers.

I have one more question if I may

on the display it has the rubber type of material it is coming off do they sell the bezel to replace it with or  is it one unit with the screen as I see nothing in the parts catalog only shows 1 as being a display then they talk about the back of the display

Thank you

Hi, Todd:

It appears that you have to buy the whole lid and LCD...

I didn't see any on eBay, and I would not recommend spending $200 on a replacement.

have some glue called 6000 it is a rubber type and use can run  a line along the edge so I will use that and keep doing it until  it builds up to the height of the type that is on it

figures they would do that to make money I guess

just like the acer aspire V5 that has the touch screen attached to the bezel

Oh well for 20.00 it is ok

That seems like a cost-effective solution.

You have a great day too!

I have a strange problem with this laptop

I installed Windows 10 on it and them put in  the second hard drive but it is not seem in my computer (This PC) I tried two driftnet cables and no difference   and I know the hard drive is good as it is out of another laptop I was going to transfer my files from the one onto the new one as it has two bays    so I looked around on eBay for a another cable but it keep showing the first hard drive cable by not the secondary one it and it only shows a ribbon type not my type

Even though it is not a new disk, try initializing the disk in the Windows Disk management utility.

If that doesn't work, unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you and recommend that you start a new discussion.
