I have an HP Envy x360 Laptop, no longer under warranty. The touchpad does not function and the driver is not installed in Device Manager. Can someone help me find a way to re-install it? Thank you.

Hi @db56driver,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy x360 touchpad is not functioning and the driver has disappeared from Device Manager. Let’s go through a few steps to reinstall it.

Check Windows Updates
Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.
Sometimes Windows will automatically detect missing drivers and install the touchpad driver.

Use HP Support Assistant
Download and install HP Support Assistant from HP’s website.
Run it and check under Updates or My devices → Updates to detect and install missing drivers.

Manually download the touchpad driver
Go to the HP support site: search for HP Envy x360 [your exact model] → Software and Drivers → Windows 11 (or your OS).
Download the Synaptics or Windows Precision Touchpad driver listed under “Driver – Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices.”

Install the driver
Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart the laptop after installation to ensure the touchpad is enabled.

Check Device Manager
Press Windows + X → Device Manager → Mice and other pointing devices.
If the touchpad still doesn’t appear, click Action → Scan for hardware changes.

Enable touchpad in BIOS or settings
Some Envy laptops allow enabling/disabling the touchpad in BIOS or Windows Settings → Devices → Touchpad.
Ensure it is enabled.

Optional: Use generic Windows driver
If the HP driver fails, uninstall any existing pointing device entries, then restart.
Windows may install a generic Precision Touchpad driver automatically.

I hope this helps.
