AMD's press release proves unequivocally that up until now HP's laptops were to be supported through HP only,  what AMD finally realized was an abysmal failure hurting their business.

The fact that HP decided to piss on their customers did not ultimately escape AMD's attention.

It is unheard of for company like HP to provide support based on unverified procedures like this "key combination" that doesn't work for BIOS rollback, what HP is apparently STILL unaware of!!!

Now if AMD would just get the Driver package out there maybe, just maybe the bios issue would fix itself. While I like what I have read. How long before it appears?  first quarter ,Jan, Feb, mar or eternity? Talk is extremely cheap especially when dealing with unreliable companies......

When I was talking to HP Customer Service, they actually informed me of a manner to revert the BIOS update by pressing a key combination upon starting up the laptop. However, it did not work and it would not roll back to the previous BIOS version, which really is a bummer and made the machines and usable and have to go through that dumb repair process that you just went through. The only solution is for HP to release a newer BIOS version to supersede this buggy old bios which is really dumb because they themselves have tools in the laptop that should let you revert the BIOS version

LOL, don't they know that yet???? Who' s working there? ...and who's making decisions? ...how many laptops died after their BIOS "upgrade"?

Apparently not enough...

just booted up machine after I had put it away for week out of frustration. Thinking of contacting HP about BIOS issue. If I have to send it in. Now I have a concern I kept the original hardware and would put it all back. No damage was done but does HP allow user upgrade like the 2tb ssd 16GB and Samsung Nvme ssd....I don't dare leave them in. Does that void any warranty.? only have 24 days left on warranty...

I'd imagine everything has to be in original configuration otherwise your warranty is over.

I think you are allowed to update but also think you would not get your stuff back. like i said all original hardware would be put back..... I just tried  using a flash drive bios image came up with f17 but said bios signature invalid HP really screwed us not allowing a rollback. I really don't want to even deal with this crappy company. I sent them polite feedback that this whole bIos thing and no new driver was a betrayal of a companies trust to their customers. Doubt that they will do anything.....

The issue is not really the BIOS but rather HP's outdated GPU drivers...I force-installed the December Vega 8 driver as described earlier in this thread and everything is working fine for me.

I don't dispute that HP has been absolutely TERRIBLE at driver support, but this is really what it would take...I don't know what the heck is taking them so long either.

Wow just spoke to HP support did not tell  them I had upgrades. NOW listen to this. If you buy the componets fro m HP yor allowed to upgrade but only if you go through support and they have to walk you through it. What a scam, they just want to buy more of their over priced garbage.  Now HP is i n the the A** hat zone and I'm just being polite...

Possibly, trouble is we don't know that for sure.
