HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-eu0000 (7K632AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I remember when initally setting up my laptop selecting "focus mode" as I thought it sounded sensible... But in reality it's totally useless as it prevents you looking at two tabs side by side. So I've been trying to turn it off. I've accessed the HP Command Centre but there is no option to disable it as others have made reference to when they have the same issue. I've checked and it appears my versino of Command Centre is up to date (v. 1.11.60.0). If anyone can help I would be hugely appreciative!!

Hi @WillCoombs,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To disable Focus Mode on your HP Spectre X360 running Windows 11, follow these steps:

Open HP Command Center:

  • Look for the HP Command Center app in your list of installed apps or search for it in the Start menu.

Navigate to Focus Mode Settings:

  • Once HP Command Center is open, look for the Focus Mode section. This might be under a section labeled "Performance" or "System."

Disable Focus Mode:

  • In the Focus Mode settings section, there should be an option to toggle it off or disable it. Click on the toggle switch or checkbox to turn off Focus Mode.

Save Changes:

  • After disabling Focus Mode, make sure to save your changes if prompted.

Restart (if necessary):

  • Sometimes changes in settings like this require a restart to take effect. If you still experience issues after disabling Focus Mode, try restarting your laptop.

If you're unable to find the option to disable Focus Mode within HP Command Center, consider updating the HP Command Center app to the latest version from the Microsoft Store. This can sometimes resolve missing options or settings discrepancies.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

My HP Command Center used to have the option for focus mode but now does not. How do I change it without HP command center?

I have the exact same issue. HP removed the ability to control this feature when they updated Command Center, so there is no way to change the setting. Bad luck if this update happened right when you briefly tried it. After a day it was clear it was terrible, but too late. The switch was gone.

No one at HP can figure it out... they claim they've been "researching" the issue for like 2 months.

You can temporarily turn it off by going to Task Manager and then manually ending the HP.FocusMode, but it will turn itself on again after a while (or after you restart your computer). I can't find the registry setting that controls this.

I don't know how something so stupid could happen. It's like if an electrician updated your light fixture, turned it on, and then removed the switch.

It is now located in the "MY HP" application. In the "System Control" section. It is a toggle switch labeled "Focus Mode"

Thank you! HP customer support is sending my emails every day saying that the only way to turn it off is to go back to a system restore point before they removed it from Command Center. What the hell is going on there.
