Hello everyone,
Recently I am having an issue with my HP G42-23OUS Notebook, everything is up to date but yesterday it won't startup completely. It's stuck on a blue screen if I choose to launch repair or if I choose to start my laptop normally it will be stuck on the screen with Microsoft Windows on it. Maybe my laptop being 7 or 8 yrs old is the problem? I had gotten it fixed once at a computer repair service for batter replacement and the fan. I choose to bring it to a repair shop because I loved it so much. Abdul, tech guy said my laptop's issue could be 6 different issues:
1) Bad device drivers, could be graphics card driver,
2) Bad RAM
3) Windows updates
4) Virus/spyware
5) Registry corruptions
6) bad hard drive
The responses from HP + Miscrosoft were to try several steps in the links including run a diagnostic, resettin/ reinstall to perfom a system recovery my laptop. Create an installation media from a flash drive or dvd. I never experienced this kind of issue before so I sent a mesage to both Micorsoft and HP Tech support via Twitter. Then I tried the start up test on my laptop which said something failed on my latop. I am still not sure if its an hardware issue? Do I need to replace the hard drive? Was there corruptions? It can't be a virus or spyware? Bad device, driver graphics?
This is what get now...
If choose to start up normally I get this screen
If I choose to launch repair I get this screen
Reseult of the Start up Test

This is due to your hard drive failing. You should see if you can backup your data using a different PC and then replace the hard drive. Any 2.5 Inch Sata 3 hard drive will work.
