Hi Wanderingang,

I had this what you reported, too. All Hotkey worked EXCEPT the brightness--nothing happens if pressing F3/4. Anyway: I deinstalled both Display Drivers and Installed an old one (I use the 850G5 with the ATI Display accelerator). This brought back the brightness control.

Logically this makes sense: The hotkey toggles the display--if a working display driver is running. But sorry, I did not noted the display driver versions, which helped, please try it. It's worth in that case.

Hi Uniquepickles,

did you already tried to disable the HOTKEY in device manager? See my previous post in this threat.

Hope that helps.

Omg I kinda gave up on it after a week of configuring drivers and all that stuff written on forums and did windows 10 reset on my probook 430 g5. and even this didn't help until a couple days after it just automatically solved itself in windows update center when I restarted it. So maybe it was the reset,(done in settings - update - reset) or maybe not, I don't even know

I had this same problem (EliteBook 840 G5, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64 bit).  Updating the hotkey drivers or reverting back to previous drivers did not work.  However, when I updated my BIOS, my hotkeys started working again.  Hope this helps others having the same issue.

And now the problem has returned.  😞

downgrade the HP LAN/WLAN/WWAN Switching and Hotkey Service to the April version.

1. right click on it:

2. select update driver:

5. select the older version and click on next to install. Try increasing/decreasing the brightness again.

I fixed this problem by removing the bogus hot key service.
Open terminal with admin and run this command.
--
sc delete HotKeyServiceUWP
--

Then Download and install the hotkey from HP support page. Everything is working as intended now.

I had some trouble finding the path to get to the hotkey driver, but found it after a little digging. The path is Device Manager > Software Components > HP LAN/WLAN/WWAN Switching and Hotkey Service

"I have an HP 850 G3 initially reinstalled with W10 21H1, and HP Hotkeys were functional. After updating to W10 22H2, HP Hotkeys stopped working - an empty window appeared. After two reinstalls of W10 21H1 with an update to 22H2, I managed to activate HP Hotkeys only after installing HP Hotkeys for HP 850 G1/G2 (it's a different software). Now, HotKeys appears in 'Programs and Features.' The issue is that, although Brightness works in HotKeys, I still encounter an empty window with 'HotKeys' every time I access it."

I have also resolved the issue of the empty window by disabling the HP Hotkey UWP service.

I solved the problem on my device.

I installed the older driver: sp112462 and updated in the device manager
