HP Laptop 15-dq0052dx – Realtek RTL8822CE Wi-Fi Adapter “Not Operational” After Clean Windows 10 Install

🧾 Post Content:

Hi HP Support,

I’m reaching out after spending over a week trying to resolve a Wi-Fi connectivity issue on my HP Laptop model 15-dq0052dx. I wiped and installed windows due to a suspected malware and that fixed that but then the driver misalignment issue began with WiFi. I’ve allowed windows to run updates with a hotspot connection but they didn’t work neither did downloading and installing all drivers from hp support website. It’s definitely not the hardware it’s something with drivers. It sees my home network if I add it manually through manage my networks  but won’t connect.

⚙️System Information:

Model: HP 15-dq0052dx

Operating System: Windows 10 Home, 64-bit

Wi-Fi Adapter: Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe

Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_C822&SUBSYS_85F7103C&REV_00

Driver Version Installed: 2024.10.228.9

Driver Provider: Microsoft

Network Status: “Not Operational” (from Hardware Properties)

Bluetooth: Working

Hotspot: Initially worked, but no longer connects

🔧What I’ve Already Tried:

1. Clean install of Windows 10

2. Deleted all partitions and reinstalled all drivers manually in correct order (chipset → keyboard → audio → graphics → network)

3. Installed Realtek drivers sp157102.exe and sp155460.exe — neither fixed the issue

4. Verified driver matches hardware ID (VEN_10EC&DEV_C822)

5. Tried disabling Windows Update during driver installation

6. Installed HP Connection Optimizer

7. Tried running network diagnostics — new error says “Problem with wireless adapter or access point”

8. Bluetooth works, but Wi-Fi remains unusable — status shows “not operational”

What I Need Help With:

• Is sp157102.exe the correct and final supported driver for this adapter + model + Windows version?

• If not, where can I find the real working driver for RTL8822CE and hardware ID C822 under Windows 10?

. I just want the Wi-Fi to work reliably again.

Thank you so much in advance.

Steph

Yes,  sp157102.exe is currently the latest driver HP has for that model Wi-Fi adapter.

It is considerably newer than the driver your notebook currently has installed.

2024.10.230.2

sp157102.exe

It's possible the Wi-Fi card has a hardware issue since any software troubleshooting you performed including reinstalling Windows did not get the Wi-Fi to work.

HP only offered Realtek cards in the model series and one Intel card that would not work in your notebook since it is a CNVi card and would only work as a replacement in a notebook that came with one of those from the factory.

If you want to experiment, you can see if installing this model Intel card will work:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 802.11ax 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5.0     HP part # L35282-005
