HP Laptop 15s-fq1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought the  HP Laptop 15s-fq1, together with an HP external usb dvd drive,  but while the laptop recognises that the dvd drive is attached via the usb, I cannot seem to play a dvd (e.g. film) on the computer.  Where am I going wrong?  Do I need to change some internal settings to allow it to play without problem (and if so what), or take some other action?

Thanks for any positive replies.

Hi:

if you did not get any DVD playing software with the HP drive you bought, you will need to get the free VLC player from the Microsoft Store.

W10 has no DVD playing software included, and any of the Cyberlink DVD software on the support site is for internal DVD drivers and will not install.

Thank you so much Paul, worked first time. Much appreciated.  Just wish I could get rid of the 'tool bars' that seem to remain on screen.

Hello, which player did you use to play your DVD disc?

I now using Vidmore Player to play my Blu-ray or DVD disc, folders and ISO files, as well as MP4, MKV, AVI, MPEG, WMV, etc.

I think it is easy to use. You can also have a try.

I want to know more products, if you have different ideas, you can reply to me, thank you very much.
