I very much dislike this computer. It has grey letters on grey keys which cannot be read easily as there is very little contract between the letters and the keys. it is a product unfit for purpose as the letters on a keyboard should be able to be read.
Does the keyboard have a backlight? If so where is the button to turn it on?
This is the laptop

Below is the link to the parts list for your notebook.
The top cover/keyboard part number and description is:
M17184-001 | TOP COVER No Finger Print Reader With Keyboard, NSV US |
That part number indicates the keyboard is not backlit.

Thank you for your reply. I would never have found that or considered that the parts information can help me.
It is disappointing though as there is not enough contrast between the letters on the keys and the colour of the keys to be able to read the letters.
Conseuently the kaptop 15s-f5xxx is not fit fir purpose. It is below par for use as it is necessary to read the keys for function.
Although it was bought new it is out if warranty. As it was so awful to use I did not use it much, and now it is too late. It was bought Dec 2024.
The keys are clearly made to be backlit. It should not have been putvon the market. It is substandard. I expected that hp would be trustworthy to supply a reasonably functional product.
