@rbruce5176, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop is not charging despite diagnostics showing a healthy battery, try these troubleshooting steps:

Basic Checks:

  1. Check the Charger & Cable:
    • Ensure the power adapter is plugged in properly.
    • Try a different power outlet.
    • Inspect the charger and cable for any visible damage.
    • If possible, test with a different HP-compatible charger.
  2. Remove and Reinsert the Battery (If Removable):
    • Power off the laptop.
    • Disconnect the charger.
    • Remove the battery and wait for 30 seconds.
    • Reinsert the battery and plug in the charger.
  3. Check Charging Port:
    • Look for dust or damage inside the charging port.
    • Gently wiggle the connector to see if the charging light turns on.

Software Fixes:

1. Reset Battery Driver

  • Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
  • Expand Batteries.
  • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery → Click Uninstall.
  • Restart your laptop (Windows will reinstall the driver).

2. Run Windows Power Troubleshooter

  • Press Win + I → SystemTroubleshootOther Troubleshooters.
  • Select Power and run the troubleshooter.

3. Perform a Battery Reset (BIOS)

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30-60 seconds.
  4. Reinsert the battery and charger, then turn the laptop back on.

BIOS & Hardware Fixes:

1. Update BIOS (if applicable)

2. Battery Test in BIOS

  • Restart and press F2 to enter HP Diagnostics.
  • Run the Battery Test in the BIOS.

3. Hard Reset (for Non-Removable Batteries)

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plug in the charger and power it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
