Hi @kit6600

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you're receiving a warning that HPMediaNetwork.exe (located in C:\Program Files\HP\HP Media Network\HPMediaNetwork.exe) may be dangerous. We will work through this carefully.

If this file was installed with HP software, the warning can occur when Windows Security, an antivirus application, or a recent security update flags the program because it is older, uncommon, or no longer actively used.

Please try these steps:

Open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history and review the details of the detection.

  • Note the threat name and whether the file was quarantined or blocked.

Ensure Windows Security definitions are fully updated:

  • Open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
  • Select Protection updates > Check for updates.

Verify the file's digital signature:

  • Browse to C:\Program Files\HP\HP Media Network\.
  • Right-click HPMediaNetwork.exe > Properties > Digital Signatures.
  • Confirm an HP or HP-related publisher signature is present and valid.

If you no longer use HP Media Network features, you can remove the software:

  • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  • Locate HP Media Network and uninstall it if available.

Restart the PC after completing the above checks and monitor whether the warning returns.

If the message continues to appear, please share:

  • The exact warning message text.
  • Whether the warning is from Windows Security or another security application.
  • Your HP product model.

This will help us provide more targeted guidance.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
