hello
I have a problem, I got an error with the hp mobile data protection sensor driver on my laptop and I decided to reinstall it myself. First I deleted it and then I couldn't find it on the official website and I looked in support and downloaded the driver. Then I look in the device manager and it says unknown device. I look in its details and I try to update the driver and an error pops up that an error occurred during the installation of the hp mobile data protection sensor and I don't know what to do next and now I'm writing to support for advice.
thanks in advance

Hi:

Unfortunately, there's no working driver for that hardware version of the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor on W10.

This fix used to work, but I don't believe it does anymore.

You have to manually install the XP driver.

First, uninstall the 3D Driveguard drivers and software you tried, so that the accelerometer is showing up as an Unknown Device.

1. Download and save this driver, but do not run it.

This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58201.exe

2. Download and install this free file utility. The 2nd file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

https://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the driver file you saved.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp58201).

Once that is done, go to the device manager, click on the unknown device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Hi @SashaMugal

If Paul's driver does not work for you, use the following one.

thank you, this helped me, but I have a question: hp 3d drivequard is not displayed in programs and tools, should I install it?

You're very welcome.

If you installed a SSD in your notebook instead of a hard drive, you don't even need the 3D Driveguard software.

The 3D Driveguard software, where an icon was placed in the system tray, was updated to remove all of the software since it was deemed to be no longer compatible with the newer builds of W10.

I pretty much believe that if you bump or drop the notebook, the 3D driveguard protection won't work anymore.

I don't recommend testing it to find out.

But if the workaround I gave you got the drive to install and clear the device manager error, count yourself lucky because the W10, W8.1, W8, W7 and Vista 3D Driveguard drivers don't work.
