HP Notebook - 15t-dw100 CTO Keyboard Rattling

HP Recommended

I've got an HP laptop 15t that I've had for around 1-2 years and I've suddenly realized that when I'm typing on the right side of the main keyboard I hear an odd rattling sound coming from it. It doesn't make that sound when I shake the computer and seems to be the loudest when I press the keys around the K key. I'm not sure what it is, and it is very annoying when I am typing.

1. What is it?
2. Can it be fixed?

3. If it can, how?

4. If it can't, what do I do about it?

Thank you

@Kevin_Z826

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Does it happen when the computer is turned off?
  • Does it happen only while typing keys?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (Refer to the removable and sealed battery)
BIOS default:(do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating)

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and    Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
