Some people on the internet claim that the OMEN franchise does not support Thunderbolt charging, which I find weird since one of the main reasons to have Thunderbolt is to charge your laptop. However, others say it is possible (see this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Charging-omen-16-via-thunderbol...).
In the provided link, this guy mentions that his laptop was charging (at lower wattage, but still charging). My question for the experts out there is: Does the charging logo on Windows appear after connecting the laptop to USB-C power? And (an even more important question), is it true that you can charge your laptop via Thunderbolt by using Eco or Balanced mode in the OMEN Gaming Hub software, instead of Performance mode?

You can work this out , as mentioned It requires 280 W Smart AC power adapter therefore 230W MAY work without connect more devices to the dock such as keyboard, mouse ..... because they draw power from the dock.

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/ish_7968187-7968239-16
It has (2) Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB Type-C® 40 Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) ports .
It requires 280 W Smart AC power adapter (only for 16-wf0000 only) therefore you can use 280W HP Thunderbolt dock to charge your machine
Lower wattage USB-C/Thunderbolt docks/chargers should charge your machine during off.
Regards.

Thanks for the reply.
As of now, there are no docking stations that output 280W through a single connection. I did find the HP G4 dock with the combo cable, which provides up to 230W. Would that be sufficient for my setup? Also, it seems that no Thunderbolt cables support power delivery over 240W.
The G4 dock includes two cables—one for Thunderbolt and another for power delivery. These can be magnetically joined for ZBook compatibility. However, since HP OMEN laptops don’t have the same port layout as ZBooks, I’d have to connect the two cables separately. In that case, would the dock still be able to deliver the full 230W to my laptop?

The link you are reffering to does not answer my previous question.
I know that G4 outputs 230W, but my question to you was if that would be enough to only have my laptop hooked up to the dock via thunderbolt or not.
Since there is no information on the G4 dock page I am asking you to give me a simple yes or no answer.
Thanks in advance
