Hello Team,

I have an HP OmniBook 5 15 Snapdragon laptop. I'm facing an issue with the USB drive; it is showing an error, and the laptop is unable to detect any USB devices.

Hi @wanderlust458,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out.

I understand that your HP OmniBook 5 15 Snapdragon laptop is unable to detect any USB devices. From the screenshot you shared, I can see that the Qualcomm USB3 eXtensible Host Controller and Synopsys USB 3.0 Dual-Role Controller entries in Device Manager have yellow warning icons, which indicates that Windows is encountering a problem loading the USB controller drivers.

Perform a hard reset

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove any discs from the disc drive.
  • Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
  • Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
  • With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Restart the USB controllers

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  • Right-click each device showing a yellow warning icon and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart the notebook.
  • Windows will attempt to reinstall the USB controller drivers automatically during startup.

Install the latest HP drivers

  • Visit the HP Support page for your HP OmniBook 5 15 Snapdragon and install the latest available drivers.
  • Chipset driver
  • Qualcomm platform/system drivers
  • Any available USB controller or firmware updates.
  • Install any recommended BIOS update if one is available.
  • These updates help ensure Windows can correctly communicate with the USB hardware.

Run Windows Update

Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates, including any optional driver updates, then restart the notebook.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to check whether the USB hardware is functioning correctly.

If the diagnostics report a hardware issue, it may indicate a problem with the USB controller or system board.

Please refer to this link for assistance in running the test

I hope this helps!

Take care and have a wonderful day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
