The problem is this: whether I use the HP Omen Hub or go directly into the BIOS, when I select the discrete graphics card, after restarting the iGPU still appears in the task manager, suggesting that the change I selected has not been made. What can I do to solve this problem?

P.S. About a year ago, I did the same thing and it worked normally.

Hi @D3mos,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your HP Omen 16 is not switching to the discrete GPU (dGPU) only, even after changing the settings in the OMEN Gaming Hub or BIOS, it might be due to a few factors. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve this issue:

Use the OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub:
  • Press the Windows key and S key, search for "OMEN Gaming Hub," and open it.

Access Graphics Switcher:

  • Click on OMEN 15/16/17 (the display name depends on the screen size).
  • Click on "Graphics Switcher" and select "Direct Connect" to switch to the discrete graphics card.

Restart Your Computer:

  • Please restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Use BIOS Settings

  • Enter BIOS:
  • Turn on or restart your computer and press F10 when the HP logo appears to enter BIOS.

Navigate to Advanced Settings:

  • Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Advanced" tab.

Select Graphics Options:

  • Select "Built-In Device Options" and then choose "Graphics."

Choose Discrete Mode:

  • From the drop-down menu, select "Discrete" mode.

Save Changes:

  • Press F10 to save the changes and exit BIOS.

Update Drivers

  • Ensure Drivers are Up to Date:
  • Update your graphics drivers to ensure compatibility with your settings.
  • Visit the HP Support page for driver updates.

Take care and have an amazing day!

None of these worked. The iGPU still appears in the task manager with 0% usage, sometimes showing 1-2%.
