Hi,

I bought an HP OMEN 16 (84S69EA#ABD) which originally came with Win11. I installed Win10Pro 22H2. Everything worked, until now. I am using it mainly with external Mouse, recently i noticed that the build in Touchpad isnt working anymore. Tried to reboot etc but the Touchpad isnt even listed in the Device Manager, so i am unable to update the driver. HP Website tells that there is no driver support for Win10, only Win11.
Does anyone has a functioning driver?

Thanks a lot!

Hi @humbledpeasant

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Your HP Omen 16 (84S69EA#ABD) can regain touchpad functionality on Windows 10 by manually installing a compatible Synaptics or ELAN driver and enabling hidden devices in Device Manager.

Step-by-step recovery for missing touchpad driver on Windows 10

1. Enable hidden devices in Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager
  • Click View > Show hidden devices
  • Expand Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices
  • Look for entries like Synaptics HID Touchpad, ELAN Touchpad, or I2C HID Device
  • If listed in gray, right-click and select Uninstall device
  • Restart your PC

2. Install a compatible touchpad driver manually

  • Visit the HP OMEN 16-c0000 series driver page
  • Select Windows 11, then download the Synaptics Touchpad Driver or ELAN Touchpad Driver
  • Run the installer on Windows 10
  • Restart your PC and check Device Manager again

3. Use Windows Update to detect missing drivers

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
  • Click Check for updates
  • If a touchpad driver is available, it will be installed automatically

4. Confirm BIOS settings

  • Restart and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS
  • Go to Advanced > Built-in Device Options
  • Ensure Internal Pointing Device is enabled
  • Save changes and exit

5. Test touchpad functionality

  • After reboot, try using the touchpad
  • If still unresponsive, press Windows + I > Devices > Touchpad
  • Ensure the toggle is set to On

Let me know how the system responds after these steps. If the touchpad remains undetected, we can explore alternate driver packages or deeper hardware checks.

You’ve done everything right by staying observant—I’ll be here to guide you further.
