HP Pavilion G-6 1240so drivers

I bought this computer as a used computer five year old. For many reasons I had to format the hard drive and install windows 7.

When I checked HP site there was no problem of identifiying model and serial number and I was given the obvious message that the warranty had expired.

There was no problem of asking for downloading drivers and I gave in windows as the only choice and picked windows 64 as one of three choices , the other win 7 32 and win 8 64.

To my great surprise none of three operative systems options had any drivers on the HP support site?!  I found some on the web but unfortunately none for the ethernet controller , network controller, PCI device and SM bus controller. 

Can anyone help me find these drivers?

Can anyone tell me why HP is scraping service for 5-6 years old computers? I could perhaps understood 15-16 year old, but not 5-6 year old.

Make sure the pull-down menu for OS is set to Windows 7 64 bit

If you have any more issues just let us know the device ID of the driverless device and your OS version (I gather Windows 7 64 bit)? and we can find drivers for you.

You need these drivers for the PCI Device and SMBus Controller...

SMBus controller.  Install and restart the PC.

Some folks have reported that installing the Intel Chipset Installation utility from the support page doesn't always work, so use the one directly from Intel.  Download, unzip and run the setup.exe file.

PCI Device:

This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones.

The network controller is the wireless card that needs to have the driver installed, and there is no information online regarding the model wlan card your notebook has.

As Huffer stated, you need to post the hardware ID for the Network Controller, so we can figure out what model it is and post the applicable driver for it.

If you do not know what model wireless card your notebook has, go to the device manager and click on the device labeled as a Network Controller.

Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window.

Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to Device Description.

Drop down on that list, and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

You do have to hit the blue "change" button; drivers do not come up just by selecting from the Menu.

Hi again

Your answer and explanation of the "change" (?!) button helped a lot. I perhaps would have named the button "enter". But suddenly all drivers are visible.

My only remaining failing driver is the PCI-card.

I tried the driver file 55030 in the answers above but failed.

If somebody has som help it is appreciated.

Hi, Per:

You need the Intel chipset driver for the ID you posted.

Either this driver from the support page...

This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver for supported notebook models and operating systems. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager.

Or the one I posted from Intel above.

sp55030 is for the card reader and if the PCI Device is no longer in need of a driver, that driver installed the card reader.
