I am looking for the Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide for the HP Pavilion g71-358NR laptop
I wanted to see if it is a G1 socket like the G72 is for a Processor upgrade but I see no Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide for the HP G71-358NR model I see ones that say only HP G71 and nothing else
It has a 2.20GHz Intel core 2 Duo now wondering if I can put a Intel Core i5-520M SLBNB in it
Thank you
Todd

You're very welcome, Todd.
Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and it will let you know the chipset your notebook has.
If it has the Mobile Intel GL40 chipset, you could if you want, install the T9500 processor.
Intel Core2 Duo Processor T9500 6M Cache 2.60 GHz 800 MHz FSB Product Specifications
If it has the Mobile Intel GM45 chipset, you could install the P8700 that is listed in the service manual.

Anytime, Todd.
Glad to have been of assistance.
I was thinking that if your notebook happens to have the GM45 chipset you can probably install the T9900 in it, because the chipset supports that processor.
The P8700 is probably just what HP offered in the model series.
The GL40 chipset can only support processors with an 800 MHz FSB, so the T9500 is the fastest one with an 800 MHz FSB.
Intel Core2 Duo Processor T9900 6M Cache 3.06 GHz 1066 MHz FSB Product Specifications
Cheers,
Paul

Since the report shows your notebook has the Intel GM45 chipset, you should be able to install the T9900 or any of the processors listed in chapter 1 of the service manual for the HP notebook I have, which also has the GM45 chipset.
