This laptop was given to me. It is old and slow, so I put a lightweight Linux on it: Lubuntu 18.04 with XFCE. While making sure my drivers were up to date, I noticed there was a "newer" BIOS available. Figured I might as well update that too, keep everything up to date. However, like many people have ran into, the board ID is not in the downloaded files.
My current BIOS is F.53 and board ID is 3562.
The update is F.6A and available board IDs are 165C, 165E, and 3564. File: sp62234.exe
I have tried using a different computer to make a booatable USB with the BIOS files, to no avail. I run the file and choose to save files in a folder on the desktop. The next thing that pops up is supposed to be the HP BIOS tools, but instead I get InsydeFlash. So, this method isn't going to work for me.
Next I tried to download "HP UEFI Support Environment". I installed that on a USB flash drive and then moved the downloaded BIOS files to the "new" folder as instructed. I restart the computer and run the UEFI Support, but I run into none of the bin files corresponding the my board ID.
As per another post, I looked at the platform.ini file that came with the BIOS files that were downloaded. Under "[Platform_Check]" PlatformName11 is 3562, which matches my board ID, but under "[Multi_FD}", there is nothing about 3562.
