I just bought a HP Pavilion laptop 2 days ago and after installing anti virus, microsoft office, adobe pdf, and an exam writing software (secureclient), it shuts down automatically with a blue screen and error message "DPC Watch-Dog Violation error code". I just returned the same model of laptop 2 days ago because of same error message and shut down issues. Please assist!

Hello,
I have searched this error message on the internet and found a few solutions. Try these in order to see if they resolve your issue:
1) First, disconnect any external drives.
2) Update your SSD driver, if you have a SSD. To do this, right-click the Start Menu button, click Device Manager, open the Disk Drives dropdown, right click the SSD and click Update Driver. Then, click on Search automatically for updated driver software. Alternatively, search for the driver on the Internet manually.
3) Check for corrupt system files. Right-click the Start Menu button and click on Windows Powershell (Admin). Type the following command "CHKDSK C: /F /R" without the quotation marks. Press Enter. Then, press Y and then restart the computer.
4) Scan and fix system files. Return to the admin Powershell as in step 3. Type SFC /scannow. Once it completes, restart the computer.
5) If all the above didn't work, try restoring your device to a previous restore point. Your personal files shouldn't be affected but back them up if you are worried. Follow the instructions in this article to do this: https://whatsabyte.com/17073/windows-system-restore/.
6) As a last resort, reset your PC by going to Settings, Update & Security, Recovery and the first Get started button. BACK UP YOUR FILES and then choose the option to remove everything. Follow the instructions to reset your PC.
I hope this helps. Tips come from this article: https://whatsabyte.com/windows/dpc-watchdog-violation/
