I know this laptop isn't made for gaming, but my frame rate and performance will randomly drop to around 20 fps while i'm on ANY application. It did not use to do this when I initially got the laptop, which is why I'm thinking this is a graphics driver issue. It will also go back to regular performance after, but after a while it will drop fps. Any help? It happens with ALL applications/games.

Hi @DanielObu,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Random FPS drops in applications and games on your HP Pavilion X360 14 Inch 2-In-1 Laptop PC 14-Ek0000 (54B26AV) can be caused by a variety of factors. Here are some steps to diagnose and potentially fix the issue:
1. Update Graphics Drivers:
- Visit the HP support website or the graphics card manufacturer's website (Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA) to download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card.
2. Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Install any available updates as they might include performance improvements or bug fixes.
3. Adjust Power Settings:
- Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Select High Performance or create a custom plan with settings optimized for performance.
4. Manage Background Processes:
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and go to the Processes tab.
- Identify and close any unnecessary applications or processes that are consuming a lot of resources.
5. Adjust In-Game Settings:
- Lower the graphics settings in the games or applications where you are experiencing FPS drops.
- Adjust settings such as resolution, texture quality, and effects to balance performance and visual quality.
6. Check for Thermal Throttling:
- Overheating can cause the CPU and GPU to throttle performance to cool down.
- Clean the laptop’s vents and ensure they are not blocked.
- Use a cooling pad to help keep the laptop cool during intensive tasks.
Check the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
